Jerry Lowitz is the "baby" in the band, at least by Roadmaster standards. Having joined the group in 2000, he's the newest member of the band. He's also a very accomplished bass player-on the 5-STRING bass, no less.

Jerry was born in Auburn, California on June 22, 1954. By the age of 5 he'd moved with his family to Humboldt County, settling in rural Hydesville. Most of his life, though has been spent in Fortuna. Jerry got his first guitar, a small acoustic instrument, when he was 9. Jerry was hooked for life.

Right after graduating from Fortuna High School, Jerry moved north to Gold Beach, Oregon. It was there, at the age of 19, that he played his first professional job. He was the lead guitar player in a long-haired rock band. (His years in that capacity may explain why he's so good on bass today). Jerry lived in Oregon for several years, but eventually he found himself back in Humboldt, back in Fortuna and back in music.

His next band, Night Rider, broke new ground in two ways: it was his first country band and, for the first time, he was the bass player (a musical position he would never leave). When Night Rider folded after two years Jerry formed another rock band called JET.

After JET he found himself in another country band that would prove to have real longevity: The Bandits. Along with John Diaz, Jerry played with The Bandits for over 10 years, eventually asking future Roadmaster Mike Smith to join as the band's drummer (Mike would return the favor a few years later by recommending Jerry for The Roadmasters).

Which pretty much brings us to the present. Jerry was asked to join The Roadmasters in 2000, and the band's musical chemistry was complete. Jerry still lives in Fortuna with his wife Kathy and daughter Kimberly. He works in the real world as a timber faller, heavy equipment operator and lumberjack. But make no mistake: inside this big, outdoorsman/sportsman there's a virtuoso musician, and The Roadmasters aren't about to let him go. After all, he's family now!
